Friend of mine killed this buck with his bow. Notice how the left antler is discolored. It looks as if that antler stopped growing sometime during the velvet stage. This antler is brittle to the point you could break it with your hands.

Most likely injured it during the velvet state.

Was there any visible injury to antler or deer ?
