Just wondering if anyone had used Duracoat to paint any guns? If so how did you like it, did it hold up, was it easy to apply???

Love the Brownell's stuff!  Goes on THIN and with proper surface prep, it'll last much longer than ANY over the counter spray paint ever dreamed of.  I'm actually ordering some of the od green, tan and black to do my 835s. Gonna lightly bead blast the surfaces first.  Prep work is the most tedious thing with this stuff...recommend a NEW or VERY CLEAN electric oven to use for the cure process as any grease or oil can screw up the finish and prevent it from holding.  I've done 2 shotguns and a rifle with it and the stuff is awesome!  They mean it when they say you can even spray the inside of a shotgun reciever too!  Stuff goes on super thin and has a nice lubricating property. Follow the instructions...to the letter and you can't go wrong.  Yeah, its expensive but its worth every penny.

What kind of gun do you use to spray it and instead of sandblasting could you just sand it with sandpaper??

I already had a good airbrush and compressor kit but the brownell's kit runs about $100.00 plus paints/thinners and activators.  They also make a shake and spray kit that allows you to use it like an aerasol can.  I wouldn't use sand paper to roughen the surface as it WILL show through the thin finish. The only reason I bead blasted the metal was to further roughen the surface evenly to enhance the dull paint and give it better purchase on the metal.
