I just bought a 835 used guy only used it two times turkey and once duck hunting I hear people say how much they kick with 3 1/2 mags but I got rid of a 9200 Moss semi that thing kicked worse with 3 inch than my 835 with 3 1/2 mags sold the 9200 all black I hated it for 200.00 bought the 835 all camo for 200.00 nice gun.

ALL 12 guages kick with 3 1/2" shells
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.

Im not saying it dose not kick just saying that the 9200 felt worse with 3 inch than the 835 with 3 1/2 I shot it I know it kicks not so Im not lieing just stating a fact that the 835 dose not kick as bad with 3 1/2 as some say.

That may be due to the recoil pad.  It's dang near analytically impossible for a 3" 2oz turkey load to out kick a 3.5" 2.25oz unless there is a huge powder difference in favor of the 3" load.  It's just that a 3.5" 2.25oz load even if it had slightly less powder in the load vs a 3" 2oz load, the heavier payload means that it takes more of the powder explosion to get it going out the barrel thus meaning more felt recoil to the shooters shoulder.  There's simply put no getting around that.  Same exact principle applies for rifle cartridges.

Yes I am over 40 and I know that I think it was that the 9200 had a harder pad on it just saying I did not think it was as bad as some people made it out to be they had said it kicks like a mule and in my thoughts no where that bad.

I have never shot a 9200, but even with a limbsaver pad on my 835, I know I better be hanging on tight when I touch off a 3.5" turkey shell.

dirt road ninja

Glad to hear your happy witht the 835. It will be a much better turkey gun then the 9200.

pabossie255

Thanks dirt road ninja I am happy with it. I was useing same brand of shells in both guns I just felt that the recoil was less on the 835 might just be me but then again  it my gun and thats what matters just stating my thoughts I thought that is what these forums were for not a debate on if you think I am wrong. I never said it did not kick it dose just not bad to me again those are my thoughts.

The only other turkey gun I ever owned was a Mossy 535, and I could never get that thing to pattern consistantly.
So I went out and picked up an 835, and never looked back. Best patterning shotgun I ever picked up. You will be very pleased. Match her with a good choke, and turkeys will pay! :icon_thumright:

Hey I'm not arguing with you to convince you that you are wrong.  Your thoughts are just that.  But highly unlikely is all I'll say.

You shoot 8 rounds of 3.5" turkey loads especially the old Winchester XX Supreme 2.25oz loads through my 835 and it's got a limbsaver pad and I guarantee it's gonna knock you into next week after about the 5th round.  A 458 Win Mag is still not equivalent to a 3.5" 2.25oz turkey load.

And yes I have shot a Moss 9200.

I just went and put a box of ten through it last weekend at the range Ill tell you shoot a few rounds of my marlin 18 1/2 inch barrel 444 then you will see its not that bad.

I have shot some big high powered rifle rounds.  Again I will say that none of them kicked as hard as the heavy 2oz or 2.25oz turkey loads.  I would rather shoot 10 300 Win Mag shells than 5 of these turkey loads.  It's nite and day difference.  Even a 50 BMG gun don't kick as hard.  I have shot one of them too.  But you are entitled to your opinion.  But I will have to disagree with your way of thinking.

Well thats ok with me if you dissagree and like you said its just me and I am fine with that too. I never expect that everyone will agree with me but if you dont cant you just write once that you dont agree and let that be that or start your own post about how bad you think the 835 kicks instead of over bombing my post about how you dissagree with me could you not just say like dirt road ninja Im glad you like your gun have fun with it how old are we here.
