Maybe something else to try?

I was curious if it would be possible to try to use marble, or granite as a striking surface?  Im not a call maker, but I often think about turkey calls and how to make them though.  Any thoughts?

I had to reply to this.....I have mead several pots with Brazilian Quartz Crystal and they were mostly for looks instead of sound. If you could get the materials mentioned cut (not polished on one side) to around .050" thick, you may be able to make it work, other then that they are usually too thick to use and would be decorative in nature. I believe in trial and error, a lot of trying and a lot of error before you get t right, so you never know till you try....
