Cherry Trumpet

I recently acquired some wood that had been the structure for a smoke house a long time ago. I was actually thinking of using the wood to make pens to raise quail. There was a small piece laying there so I decided to cut the end off to see what it looked like. The guy said it was all poplar and oak. Well I got excited when I cut the end off because it was obviously a different wood species. I passed it over my jointer and through the planer and decided it was cherry. I'm not sure how much cherry is in the pile but this piece was a full dimension 2x4. I got to thinking and can't remember if I've seen any trumpets made out of cherry before. I don't think I have ever seen a cherry trumpet but I bet somebody on the forum has one.  That is some very interesting wood and I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

Cherry should make a fine trumpet.

I've made a few out of cherry and the sounded great. That's a really nice beam of cherry!
