Tethrd M2 Vest

Like many, I am still looking for the perfect vest.  I have been using an Alps Longspur to which I have attached a magnetic Glenda Green cushion.  It has too much weight on the shoulders and a crowded chest.

I have used a minimalist satchel from Glenda Green and like it but would still like to have a vest as an option. 

I read through the old Tethrd M2 threads but it was still pretty new and not a lot of feedback.  As noted earlier, I am looking for a vest that puts more weight on belt than shoulder and is not crowded on the chest.  I also like the openess and modularity the M2 seems to offer.  In short, the M2 looked like it might be a fit but for the price I wanted some additional feedback.  Any thoughts from guys that have it or have tried it?  Thanks.

Unless you can find one on the used market, you might be outta luck, as the M2 has been discontinued by tethrd.

That being said, I love mine. Have made a couple personal preference mods to it(the seat sucked, traded out for a modded GG tube), and did a little reorganization and additions to their call accessories.

I have tried about every vest on the market these days and the M2 fit the bill about as perfectly as I could imagine. I'm of smaller stature and most vest swallow me whole. The different sizing and adjustability of the M2 was a game changer for me. The belt and yoke carries weight like a champ.

 went with a modular lumbar system from marsupial gear. they also make a bird bag option for upland hunters, that would work. pricy gear for sure. i love not having a vest.

I used an M2 this year and liked it a lot. Here are my pros and cons

Pros
-the weight sits on your hips like a hiking pack
-very light weight
- seat is as good as any foam seat
- obviously tons of options for pouches
- very comfortable wearing all day
-made in the USA

Cons
- the straps and very annoying to manage. You can always cut them, but I didn't want to mess it up for someone else if I decided to change it up.
- Molle clips are not very good
-Although there are tons of options for holsters and pouches, the turkey specific ones are expensive .

Once you find a vest you really like buy several, e.g. lifetime supply. Manufacturers of most anything always have to come out with "new and improved", which isn't necessarily so in many or most cases.

Thanks for the input.  I may look into the marsupial gear.  Any other options that anyone would recommend will be appreciated.

I picked up a Marsupial Upland Vest back during their July 4th 20% off and free shipping sale. As much as I liked the M2, I was curious and always looking for a better mousetrap.

While it definitely needs some fine tuning, I think it has the right platform to be turned into a great vest. And I'd rather do the fine tuning myself. The lack of a seat is an issue and I have already modified it to accept my modified Glenda Greene speed seat. Also in process of lining the pockets(I chose the large ones) with hook/loop like the M2 pockets to accept accessories. Plethora of inexpensive tactical pouches sleeves etc on amazon that work perfectly to hold calls. And I agree from the post above that the plastic malice clips or whatever they are called on the M2 that attach the pockets to the molle leave a lot to be desired. I haven't given them much thought, but a ton of amazon options on those as well from the tactical realm. The molle attachment on the Marsupial is definitly a step up.

I obviously haven't hunted in it yet as I purchased mid summer but I expect to have it dialed come spring '26.

The problem with the very lightweight vests that many run is that they will begin to fail and rip in the material if you add a big Tom on the 1-3 mile walk back to the truck. This upland vest would solve that problem as it is built to handle more weight than a Tom can add to it. I run a GG satchel a lot, but still love a vest early in the season when it is cold and having to carry some clothes for early morning and such. I would like to see your pockets when you get them moded out and how you load them with your calls, etc. if you would be willing to let me take a looksy. I use a tote when running the satchel, but if I am running a vest, I want to be able to put the bird in the back as you are planning to do without the vest ripping out from the top. But regardless, That vest though will last for decades. It is well made. Thanks for telling us about it as I was not even aware they made that. Thanks.
