Oregon Ironwood - Mountain Mahogany

This is a very unusual piece of wood, called "Oregon Ironwood or Mountain Mahogany". It is a super dense domestic wood (same density as Desert Ironwood) and sounds like it too, which is a good thing. It reminds me a bit of Pink Ivory in the looks department. I found a nice chunk of this wood and cut it into a handful of blanks, another option for stateside wood.

Very nice.....

That's not a wood I'm familar. I like dense woods for trumpet yelpers. I wonder as it ages if it will develop a patina. Regardless, the call has an elegance. I know it's all turkey...........

Nice! I've been wanting to try that stuff.

Notsoyoungturk

Very nice.  It has a pinker hue of some of the dogwood we used to use to make golf clubs.
