Has anyone ever wore off the finish on part of a box call? My Steve Mann box I got this year I carried in a GG holster slung over my shoulder and the part of the box exposed must have been rubbing on my vest.

Have you tried using any Renaissance Wax on the outside of the box... This stuff is amazing and you can buy it off Amazon. Just be sure and watch a few YouTube videos on how to apply the wax and wipe it off in a matter of a few seconds etc.. I condition all my boxes, pot calls, strikers and especially trumpets with this wax, trumpet mouthpiece / barrel depending on what material is used for the mouthpiece...

Get you some of this wax and try it on your calls...

I use it on anything that is wood related that has to do with calls..

Thanks Greg I will give that a shot. I don't know what finish Steve uses and don't think it will hurt anything missing a little of it but I just Iike to keep my calls in great condition.

Yes and the smaller one will last you a long time ... And it will help with keeping your calls water resistant from moisture

I ordered the wax but in the meantime tried to re coat that spot with clear coat. I covered the rails but it ran down and got on the one rail. Should have left it alone... live and learn I guess. I lightly sanded it with scotch brite to remove the clear coat. I don't think it sounds any different but looks like it soaked into the wood a little as the color is different. Thought about lightly sanding but definitely don't want to end up changing the profile of the rail.
