Fellas if I may? It seems all the time newer type hunters have similar questions. This forum has some knowledgeable guys on it and newbies can get good info but if you understand fishing and relate it to turkey hunting you'll be at least open minded and better off.
If something is not working.., in the past I've read so many "I keep doing this, it's not worked. I've done that it hasn't worked."
Fellas change it up. I don't mean to sound like a one man band in the woods and that's not my point. Yes you can change up a call. Using a pot, try a scratcher. If the pot ain't working hour after hour, change. IMO the reason scratchers are effective is cause they're typically run at a slightly dif cadence by most guys but I'm not forgetting all other options.
Same goes for "I go into a roost spot every morning and they fly into the neighbors field where I can't hunt." So why continually try it without a change up? Maybe come later in the day. Try gobbler sounds, a fight scene. See if the neighbor will let you hunt. Try sounding like multiple hens, etc
Imagine you're trout fishing a stream. All morning long you've had no luck with a silver spinner med retrieve. Idk too many guys would continue with that. They'd try gold, larger, smaller, slow roll or fast retrieve, different part of stream. Dif sections, riffs as opposed to pools. Or dif depths. They'd change it up right? Can't expect things to change by doing something completely not working.
Now be advised as in fishing. In Time the silver spinner will work. Tomo they could come running to your call or fly down into your field but waiting on that change puts you at the mercy of waiting for the changing events.
Just like you'd not run through every tactic in your tackle box but simply try adjusting in time when fishing, look at turkey hunting same way. Try to improve your luck by eventually changing it up.
Hope that made sense
