I have a friend selling a SBE 1 (12 gauge) with a 26" bbl and black synthetic stocks. I know nothing about these shotguns but I might buy it just for shiits & giggles. Did the SBE 1 have any known problems? Thanks!

You should buy it

Well, I gotta' admit that I do enjoy carrying a 20 gauge M1 Monte Feltro with 24" bbl (just under 6 lbs empty) since I've gotten older for gobbler huntin'. But I do believe that this SBE 12 bore (26" bbl) would still be lighter to carry than my 870 SuperMag (23" bbl) with the original wooden thumbhole stock. I've never shot a 3 1/2" shell in my life (including my 870 SM) and would only shoot 3" out of the SBE. I bet that the SBE would probably have more recoil at the patterning board than the 870 tho'.

Decisions, decisions!

I have one that I have shot since they first came out.  Ducks, pheasants, doves, clays.  Never had a jam or misfire.

I use to have one.  Duck hunted with it a ton and never a single hiccup.  They are fantastic guns, I only got rid of mine because I found that I shot better with a raised rib so I got a M1.  3" shells ain't the funnest, but the H&K SBE1 and M1 are excellent guns with no known problems I've ever heard of or experienced.
I have no desire to shoot a 12ga nowadays, but I'll never part with my M1, and ONLY parted with my SBE 1 because of the low rib.

Can't go wrong, operates flawlessly an is lightweight for a 12. Would never part with mine...

BUY IT. Bought one when the 1st came out and I just gave it to my son. Took it out yesterday with some Nitro Ammunition and it did well. IC .665 with green Holosun 407c

One of the best semi-autos ever made.  Buy it.

I have one of them that was made in the middle of the run before the II came out unfortunately. Mine can't float a fourth shell.

It's a great gun that I have treated like a boat paddle. In all of the thousands of times I've shot it I can only remember it not cycling twice and I blame myself for both instances. The first time I was shooting low brass and I think I just didn't have a solid mount. The second time I was shooting duck loads, it was cold as b@lls and I probably hadn't cleaned it in a couple years. That hunt was in 2019 I came home cleaned it and it's functioned just fine.

GMAN, if  you buy it I have a Rhino turkey choke that shoots lights out I'd make you a deal on.
