A hunt I needed

Haven't heard a bird in the same zipcode so far this year. Had cameras out for over a month and haven't gotten a single pic of a bird. All I've gotten is pics of poachers so I figured I'd just try to catch them this
Year.
This morning I heard a few birds as far off as I could hear one. I thought I heard one sorta close on the neighboring property so I took of in hopes he was close to where I thought he was. After I make a 3/4 mile move I hear a bird gobble way off in the distance. No way he's close enough to call to. He gobbles again then another bird gobbles between us. Still a few hundred yards away and probably across the line. I ease up some more and he gobbles again, this time he's in a thick bottom on our property. I slip in closer to what I'm thinking is about 100yds It's thick so I chanced it. I ease down next to an oak tree and throw a light help over my shoulder with my trumpet and he gobbles. I do it once more and he gobbles again. I just get ready after that one. It's not 20seconds I can see him coming up the ridge in on from the bottom. Then he goes out of sight. I hear him drumming but can't see him then I catch a glimpse of him and he's at 40yds, now 30 and now 20. I'm just letting him come, something that is not easy for me to do. He walks behind some thick stuff at 16yds. drums then gobbles and takes one more step out into an opening. I touched off my little .410 as my heart was beating out of my chest. Don't know how he didn't see me shaking.
The Good Lord really blessed me on that one. I needed it. Haven't felt that feeling in a while and I've missed it but there is still some remorse after the trigger pull. Going to do some burger this afternoon so I'll be ok.

Sweet. Toting my grandson's 410 this morning and fooled with one on the property line, but the similarity ends there! Nice work.

Ahhh, I was wondering if we would evah get this plane off of the ground. I am so glad for you to still get shaken over a gobbler getting close like that. Beautiful bird and a great opening score for us!
Cheers
