Hot summer

Hey guys, I was just wondering how everyone is making it during this long hot summer. I manage to do a little work early in the morning and then spend the rest of the day inside.

I am sure getting tired of cutting the grass.

Even after that wet spring (over 20 inches in April) it looks like we had a good hatch in my area.
we are seeing hens with lots of poults. Plenty of bugs for them to eat now and a good acorn crop for this fall and winter. Should be some limbhangers running around here in a couple of years.

I had a hen nest up behind my house, maby 200 yards from my back door. I see her once in a while but she is always in tall grass and I can't see her babies.

Been pretty warm around here Bill, and I agree, the only thing I do consistantly is mow the lawn!
It looks like we had a decent hatch here ourselves. I went out biking the other day, and saw 2 mommas with 12-15 poults between them. My buddy whos property we hunt on, has seen a momma with 8!
Hope you guys are all enjoying your summer! A couple of months, and it's fall turkey for me!

Bill,  I am ready for fall and bowhunting whitetails.  I just checked my trail cams and have been seeing some nice toms and nice bucks.  Ready for the nice cool autumn days.  Scoot

Boy the summer sure flew by fast, it was a bit warm around here also but not all that bad. We had a great hatch this year again, seen a lot of little ones and quite a few gobbler groups, so next year should be another good one. Our fall season starts here in about 3 weeks so I'm getting ready for that to open. Can't wait  .

Hot and rainy here also.  Looks like I lost my favorite hunting grounds.  The coal company is putting in a large mine water treatment plant.  They will be pumping in water from two different mines to a central location which is right where I used to hunt.  There are 12 construction tailers and about 50 miles of 16" black plastic pipe on the ground.   I am really going to hate not being able to hunt there anymore.

That stinks Bill. After having to deal with loggers in my favorite deer hunting grounds for the last couple of seasons, the loggers are finally out of there. We'll have to see how much it has changed how the whitetails slither through there.

Hey Hollis, I have not had a chance to look for a new deer spot yet, may just stay close to home this season.
