Thought I'd start a thread for us buckeyes. I had heard a few random gobbles over the last couple weeks but nothing fired up. Today was different. When I stepped out the door at dawn I was greeted with a familiar sound. Two or three bird up the valley behind the house were lighting up the woods. It was sweet music to hear. I'm hoping for a good season. Last fall I saw more poults then I had seen for a while so I hope our future is a little brighter. I didn't see many flocks all winter, but there are so darn many deer feeders out any more they just pile up on them instead of coming out in the grain fields.

How's it going in other areas of Ohio. I'm south central

I was born in OH and still have many southern OH contacts.  I'll ask around.  Never checked but is it still a one bird limit.  That may in part explain the population boast.

Yes we're still just one bird. I'm not convinced it made a difference, but perhaps it did. We had hot dry weather all last year, I think that made a difference.

I hunted southern Ohio last year. I guess you'd say south central (maybe)?

Didn't close the deal. Didn't hear many but saw quite a few. Weather was dreadful with rain. And the heat.

I saw an elk as well. Was gonna report it but figured they wouldn't buy it.
