This is to a DEGREE what I was saying in my spin off thread asking about WMA's.  Most are saying they are STATE owned!  How can the STATE say they own FEDERAL land???  And how can they convert them to WMAs, since they are Federal PUBLIC property?  Who is allowing this to happen?  It seems Mississippi is selling you guys a load of Goods, if this in fact true.

There are various methods Federal Lands become WMA. Some lease, others just run the hunting side.   What that means in FL, is that the state runs the hunting aspect - mostly because the state is already set up with quota and permit system that mostly functions well.  The hunting regs are made by the state and the LEO is enforced by the state rather than USFW.  The Feds keep the road maintenance, the burning, the logging, etc.
Psalms 118v24: This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

If you look for yourself, you can see that not nearly All WMA are National Forests.

And, if you want to be wordy about you'll see that Nearly any of Mississippi WMA lands are National Forest.

Lots of different entities at play. Some even private people that don't use the lands taking a tax break on it by the state. Also, several corporations doing the same thing.

Do 5 minutes of research for your self before you believe someone's else's agenda.

A vast majority of land (at least 75% or better and I didn't crunch the numbers) for Mississippi wma turkey permit hunts takes place on federally owned property. And majority of that is national forest. They publish this.....

The vast majority of public lands in Mississippi is federally owned (like in most states).

No agenda just stating facts.

I sure thought the wma's were state owned.  I guess you learn something every day.

Just got to read it for yourself.

So what if your kid comes along to see if he is interested.maybe they are 18 and have never been interested before. Possibly no credentials to get a license.

Lots of states have an apprentice license. May be named differently state by state.

Typically gives a new hunter a year or two "With a mentor" a chance to hunt, go along without hunter safety credentials.
