Just wanted to share a story from this week as i was checking my zero on my scope. Shot my usual lightloads at 12-13 yards and things were good - put a tss9 in the pipe and shot at 40 and needed to make a slight adjustment- did that and next shot of tss was very sparse - scratched my head and shot another one to confirm if it was me or gun - turns out the shells were tss7 in a tss9 box and when i got to looking i had 3 boxes out of my stash that was like that!!  Ive had these possibly up to 2 years and don't know if i ordered these or bought them at a store-The 7s are no good to me in the gun/ choke setup i have so I emailed federal about the situation- they promptly replied and asked a few questions regarding box numbers and lot numbers and then said they would send 3 replacement boxes of tss9s to settle up! I commended them on the move and thought they did the right thing for the situation! They didn't admit to a mixup or quality issue but did resolve the problem in my book!! A rarity these days to stand behind a product OR a mistake! Good job federal !! Have any of you guys had this happen with federal or other ammo companies? Lesson learned for  me...open that box before you buy or as  soon as the order gets in your hands to check the shells !!

Turkeybutt

Two years ago, I had something like that happen with 2 boxes of federal 243 ammo.  I bought the ammo for a friend who called me up during the first week of deer season and told me the bolt wouldn't close when trying to put a round in the chamber. I went to the farm to look at the gun to see what the issue might be. The gun was clean, and I didn't see any damage or obstruction to the chamber or damage to the bolt. In a conversation with him he told me he had 3 shells from last year which he used to shoot but after that this problem arose.
I took a shell out of the new box I gave him and none of them went into the chamber correctly and just didn't seat properly, so you couldn't close the bolt. I checked all the shells in the 2nd box and every shell in that box had the same issue. Both boxes of shells came from the same lot or batch number. I bought another box of 243 shells I had for some time with a different lot number and they all worked properly.
I called federal and explained the issue and asked for an even exchange which they refused, stating they would send me a check for what I paid for the shells after they examine the shells and determined what the issue was.
Within 3 or 4 weeks I received a check but no explanation as to the cause. Being curious by nature I called them to see what may have caused the issue. I was told that information was proprietary, and they would not share that information with me.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, tired, beat, thoroughly used up and totally worn out from chasing turkeys and loudly proclaiming; "WOW -- What a Ride!"

CALLM2U

I bought 3 boxes of Federals a few years ago (box marked straight 9s) and they were the 7s/9s mix.  Store has a strict no return policy on ammo but thankfully the manager could clearly see what happened and gave me a refund.

Clearly some packaging issues going on at Federal.

If that doesn't set the new standard for quality control then I don't know what does.

Way to go Federal!
