Hey guys. I was on here a few years ago hunting turkey with a bow. I got my long gun endorsement yesterday and plan to hunt turkey this season with a 12ga, which I own. Would this be an OK choice for turkey given the proper ammo and and choke? What choke and ammo are recommended? I also need a plug for the gun...

You just have to make sure that the M4 does not have characteristics that make it fall into the assault weapon category. I am familiar with the Super 90 and Super Black Eagles which are legal for turkey hunting. I bet you can make it legally compatible for hunting if need be. Benelli's love Indian Creek Chokes and handle both Long-beards and TSS real well depending on your budget. Good luck....

That would be an excellent choice to tame some of the recoil associated with heavy 12 gauge turkey loads.

Just look for a turkey choke and some turkey loads. Any choke in the 665 range will work well

What is a "long gun endorsement"? Sounds unpleasant to have to deal with.

Per CT/federal law, it's "legal". Unsure if hunting purposes are different but it is CT legal. It's a 5+1 so i'd have to get a magazine plug to make it 2+1 or 3 with nothing in the chamber (probably how i'd do it). It'll also be my deer gun for the season.
Indian creek chokes, i'll have to look them up. I currently have carlson chokes but they're for target/HD.

It's not fun. It's a 9 hour safety course (which i did 26 years ago for my archery license at the age of 11). But hey, i got a 100% on the actual exam.

Best of luck with it, Benelli's make great, reliable guns for sure....

My understanding is that anything under a 20" barrel will give some reduction in down-range energy, although perfectly adequate out to 50 yards (from my understanding).

I would call whatever choke company you choose and speak to one of their experts.  I would probably be looking for an extended choke made to effectively increase the barrel length and pattern distribution.

I might call Midwest Gun Works and ask about chokes and plugs:

Did I do that?

Fly fishermen are born honest, but they get over it.

I would check the Benelli site for a plug under parts, I believe they are available there, also try eBay, I usually see Benelli parts there.
