This is just opinion, so take it for what it's worth.  :z-twocents:

Good clucks. Yelps kinda short on the kee and long on the elp. Should be long on kee and roll over quick. Keee-r-lp. Practicing your kee-kee and kee-kee-run helps yelps, because a yelp is really just that sped up.

I think you could call one with that now anyway. There's nothing else in the woods that sounds like that. So if you have the cadence right it works. As long as you're not so slow you sound like a goose or so raspy you sound like a woodpecker, no problem.

Thanks yall, I've had no issue calling in turkeys with trumpets the past several years. I'm just always looking to improve on the realism. I took the same trumpet out for our youth season and yelped up 8 hens and a Jake all separately on Saturday and 5 gobblers on Sunday morning. Those trumpets just do something too them. And I agree as far as the yelps, I think they are too short to match the hen in my head, I just haven't been able to figure out how to draw them out

You're off to a good start, just keep practicing and enjoying your trumpets ...

I agree it's all about realism in your cadence rhythm with just about any call
