Issues with the Mossberg Optic Ready Shotguns

Hey fellas,

So far I've had two issues with the newer "optic ready" Mossberg shotguns. These guns have a machined receiver to direct mount a red dot. One is a 940 Pro Turkey in 12 gauge, the other a 500 optic ready .410. With both guns I have not been able to get the red dot to adjust to point of aim without shimming the site. Using Holosun 407s and 507s I run out of elevation adjustment on the sight -- still easily 8" high. These are the same sights advertised by Mossberg. It is pretty clear on both guns that the machined optic mount is angled slightly above what should be parallel to the bore. This caused the optic to run out of elevation.

Anyone else have similar Mossberg's and having this issue? It's shitty that you essentially have to create a wedge to use the red dot's they were design for. Either I got two lemons, or it is a great idea executed poorly.

I have an optic ready Mossberg 500 .410 and have a Holosun optic on it and it sighted in perfectly,no problems.

I have a 940 Pro 18.5" and noticed a similar situation but with Horizontal adjustments.  Mine came with the Holosun 407 mounted from factory.  I took it off and re-mounted using Loc-Tite and torqued properly.  I am using an Indian Creek .660 in mine and knowing how sometimes the Indian Creeks steer the core's differently one of my handloads, I load 2 different 3" 12ga loads, ran out of Horizontal adjustment before I could get the core centered.  It wasn't much but sight was maxed out and not sighted in.  The vertical was fine.  Luckly my other handload centered perfectly.  My hunting buddy also has exact same gun, his dialed in perfect.  Almost wonder if the sights themselves are a little shy on adjustment range?

I've got a 20ga 500 using prism sight. No issues

I've got a 940 PT with no alignment or zero issues with my swampfox sentinel. Really a great rig!
