What jacket, hoody or active insulation top piece are people wearing in the morning when cold but then having to pack around after I warms up?

I'm old skool.

I wear an Easton Core4 Element 1/4 zip top under a Walls Waterpruf jacket on colder mornings.  An Arctic Shield jacket on those "bleeping" blue-cold mornings.

Firstlite source jacket packs down very small

Endless choices on that I guess, really don't even want to offer one up.

I will offer this. There is the exception to everything but typically if cold, there is not any or much green vegetation. Match your camo accordingly.

I hunt in the south but we have some cool mornings in the Spring.

I keep a First Light UNcompaghre jacket in the truck or in my vest.  Great, lightweight piece can be a mid layer or outer layer and packs in it's pocket .

I just wear merino wool tops. Easy to pack into the vest when it warms up. I can handle turkey hunting a 30 degree morning in a hevi weight pullover

I'm cold natured so I usually have plenty warm stuff. However typically when I leave the truck I have a on light wieght set of  Kuiu wool. I also have a  bottom land sweat shirt hoody if needed. Surprisingly my leafy suite helps a decent amount when it's cold.
Depends how far I'm walking I may not put on the sweatshirt and leafy till I've made the walk. Try not to sweat too much walking in.

I would imagine some sort of light to medium base layer of merino wool would be a good choice.

Sitka heavy weight hoody and or Sitka Ambient jacket. Add a Puffy vest when really cold!

Just depends on how cold it is... I have worn insulated bibs and coats. Lots of times in the early morning I will start out wearing a hoodie jacket etc ... So in my answer this is a million dollar question what to wear, I do know by the time season is over the back seat of my turkey looks like a Sporting Good Store ...  :TooFunny:

Most of the time I just layer up and I have worn insulated pants etc also...

I always pack some hand warmers and body warmers also ... especially hand warmers they are a must in my satchel

I will take a couple of hand warmers and put them inside my satchel before I leave the truck or cabin on those really cool / cold mornings to keep my calls warm etc... Hand warmers can be your best friend in my opinion ...

Nothing special, growing up in the Buffalo, NY area you learn to layer in order to keep warm, it has been what has worked best for me. If it is super cold I do have my Chuck Adams Super Slam jacket from Cabela's, I sure wish I could find the matching bibs.

Anything with a full zipper, if there a chance I will be removing it I want to be able to get it off easily and not look like an escape artist getting out of a straight jacket in the middle of the woods. As said above here in NY you'll be wearing a worm jacket at some point during the season.
