24° this morning.   I was out in the dark trying to get  a coyote to do something dumb in front of me.

First howl off the FoxPro and my whole ridgetop up behind me lit off with gobbling birds !!   

I feel like something bad is gonna happen to a couple of them, comin' up, here, in about 6-7 weeks.

Great news!! (Well for everyone except the gobblers 😃) I haven't heard a gobblers in nearly 11 months now. Sometimes it's hard to live like this 😂😂😂

Heard my first gobbles of the year this morning. Took my boss's son on his first turkey hunt (its youth season in MS). Heard nothing on the limb but struck what sounded like a group of 3 around thirty minutes after flydown. Typical of this time of year, we didn't hear another peep out of them the rest of the morning. Still, it was sooo great to be back!

Looks like opening day here in East Mississippi will be a wash. We're looking at a Level 4 for bad weather with a chance of it bumping up to a 5....which is unheard of. Here's hoping we don't get blown away!

OK.....  Update.

It does appear that I'll be hunting FL for 3 days in about 3 weeks.  Then MD 2 weeks after that.  Our PA season (thank you PGC.... not !! 😡) comes in May 3rd.   There's also been whisperings of a NY trip if things end quickly in PA.  But still up in the air on that.

So, outta 3 licenses, I hope to, at least, be able to contribute somewhere along the way.

No luck yet for me in Mississippi. Well, I shouldn't say that. I found one on Sunday morning that miscoursed me in the winds and came in at the wrong angle, stopping and looking at 75 yards.

This morning, I felt like the biggest idiot in the world. Had perfect set up, moved forward, gobbler stayed low, got behind me, and gobbled 15 yards behind me at my 7:00. It took some real talent to not kill him. I did, however, set a possible new world record for most cuss words said in a 5 minute period.
