Flush Mount Choke Tubes for Turkeys?
January 17, 2025, 02:29:52 PM
I have a Franchi Affinity 3 in 20 gauge with a 26" barrel which is about as long as I'd like for turkey hunting. Im wondering if anyone has any experience with a flush mount choke for turkeys. I have been shooting a Carlson .575 extended choke and like it. Puts about 260-270 or so in a 10" circle at 40 yards. I have shot my factory full and it puts about 200 in a 10" at 40 yards. I see where they have a .575 turkey choke that is a flush mount. Would prefer to keep the barrel as short as possible and thought I'd look into this.

I have the same gun and shoot the Carlson's.575 choke with similar results. I don't notice any negative issues with the extended choke. If you want a shorter barrel, get an Affinity turkey model.. my brother in law bought one last year, it's a nice gun.

I shoot a youth 11-87 20 with a Carlson't flush extra full choke in .580 which is a killer. I routinely get 300 plus pellet count at 40 yards shooting Federal TSS #9 shot. I gave $15 for the choke at BPS on a whim but love it. It's much better than a .572 and a .575 I tried.

I've got a flush mount .585 for my Stoeger 3020 compact that I'm tinkering with right now. Only shot one round of Greenleafs through it at 40. Core was awesome, but lots of flyers from those 10s. Going to try it with straight 9s. I'm one of those guys that likes wiggle room. I don't like shooting a baseball size pattern at 20 and I think this is going to work out pretty nice once I find the right shell.

I have a Truloc .581 flush that has good hunting patterns with tss 9's or 8's.
Also have a truloc .571 ext. that has a hotter core 10", and is also a good hunting pattern as the tight choke in a
Last season hunted with the .581 flush
Never had a problem with the flush choke being hard to remove after multiple shots with tss

I currently use a flush Carlson's X-Full om my Mossberg 12GA, works just fine......been at it near 60 years now, to me extended tubes and 3 1/2" shells are over the edge.
