.22 scopes

I am going to put a inexpensive scope on my 10/22 for squirrel hunting, I am looking at a 2x-7x or a 3x-9x. Can you put a riflescope on a .22 or would it be better to have one that is parralex free at 50 yards.. cabelas fall hunting has a pine ridge{their brand} for a .22 that is 3x9 for 80.00 that is parralex free at 50 and they have a regular simmons 8 point 3x9 scope for 60.00 but I would think it is parralex free at 100 yards..  would the parralex make a difference for a .22?

My Dad gave us all new .22 with Simmons scopes. They are the ones designed for .22s. I can put 10 rounds in a group about the size of a quarter at 40 yards with it. Very clear

I just mounted and sighted a Bushnell Trophy 1.75-5 on my new Marlin autoloader. It's 32mm, bright and clear.

Hard to beat a Bushnell.  Simmons makes a good cheap scope as well.

Not going to make a diffence at all on .22lr unless you are shooting hundreds of yards.

No. The reticle focus is usually adjustable. Parallax is adjusted on the objective end of the scope and most 3-9 scopes don't have adjustable objective. Rifle scopes w/o AO are usually set to be parallax free at 100 yds. Rim fire scopes are usually set to be parallax free at 50 yds. It can make a difference trying to shoot a squirrels head at odd angles of eye to scope alignment.

I have a pile of rimfires and 3 of them shoot really well with cheap Simmons scopes.  Those 3 are all the Simmons 8 point line.   You used to find them at Walmart for $49(3-9x40).  One of my favorite squirrel rifles has a 3-9x32 Simmons 8pt.

I won a little rf match several years ago shooting at 50 yds with the cheapo Simmons 3-9x40 on a Marlin bolt.

I like Leupold, Zeiss, and Nikon on my CF rifles and shotguns, but there's nothing wrong with a cheapo on a rifle with no recoil IMO.

I have to agree, however I did put a $350 leupold on a $35 Daisy .22 LR single shot once, and that gun would absolutely drive tacks!  

How many tacks do you think this gun would drive?
