Been heavily considering picking this one up.  I've got some questions though.  Who has experience with pot calls that don't actually have a pot?  In my lifetime everyone I know uses a slate that's bedded into a pot. This archaic concept is mighty appealing as I'm not a vest-wearer.  Having two different surfaces and a sleek profile seems perfect for the fanny pack.
Who runs one old-school style with a slab of slate cupped and cradled against your knee?
What's the learning curve?
Any tips/tricks?
:thanks:

I picked one up from Fred in person the weekend before last and he is a really nice fellow to talk to. The double talker is a neat call with the benefit of 2 playing side and no pot. It takes up no room and has very nice tones on both calling surfaces. Mr. Cox told me the proper way to get the best sounds out of the little call was to form a "c" with your hand and place the call on the upper part of your hand in the "c" you formed. Then place the bottom part of your hand against your leg or body to form a sound chamber
