My Hunting Trumpet

Figured I would share some pics of my own trumpet. I have been hunting this one for many years, but never finished it due to me testing different mouthpieces on it. I finally found a MP & Internals combination that I like enough to glue this one up for good. I also decided to strip it down to bare wood and CA finish it like I do on my current builds, so here it is ready for another year. I have found a recipe that gives "me" a natural ability to create raspy or clear tones which is something I have been working on for a while. This particular combo just helps me in this regard which has been hard to figure out. This is a piece of Desert Ironwood Burl that I bought many years ago, it was full of holes/voids so I just decided to make it my own and glad I did because in the end she is easy on the eyes and runs like a champ.

Desert Ironwood has become my favorite wood.  Love the grain and finishes beautifully.  Great looking trumpet!

Good call, I might make another one with the original shape as I do like it too. I turn 99% classic shape trumpets these days, so I think auto-pilot kicked in on this one....

Very nice turkey killing tool. I like it when folks will share a bit of their equipment such as their favorite gun, vest or calls and such. Wish more would do that. Thanks for sharing Mr. Greg.
