Hi Guys, Wanted to share a nice one with you. I received this wood from Mr. Gary Anderson and neither one of us know what it is. It is very hard and heavy and has some nice figure to it, it just doesn't show up in the picture. Topped with a horn m/p. Thanks all for looking.

Thank you. Seems to be way too hard and heavy for any kind of Walnut.

EZ

Sure is sharp whatever it is!!!

Big Jeremy

Trying to zoom in to see the grain, but it's hard. Could it have come from a dark blank of ziricote.

Meleagris gallopavo

Nice looking trumpet.  Too dark to tell what type wood it is.  I can't tell much about the grain, but it looks to run laterally instead of lengthwise.

I live and hunt by empirical evidence.

Considering the grain lines and its weight...Could be a very dark piece of Ringed Gidgee, but normally RG has more lighter brown to it.

noisy box call that seems to sound like a flock of juvenile hens pecking their way through a wheat field

Plays real easy. I put an angled m/p on this one.
