Quote from: eggshell on July 23, 2023, 07:28:43 AMI'm sure I come across as a grumpy old man at times, but I truly try not to be that way in real life. As we get older we do get more opinionated and it's territory all will face unless you die young. I think a large proportion of us are in our senior years and that may cause some of the conflict, because the young mind and senior mind does not think the same.I have been involved in several forums and I have come to personally know several people I met through forums. Some I consider to be very good friends. I think that internet forums do not paint true pictures of who people are in real life. Most of us try to offer our thoughts and opinions as precise and compact as possible to avoid writing thesis and that means we often do a poor job of expressing ourselves. Then it's left up to the reader to interpret these post the way they would a conversation. This leads to problems because in conversations you can read a persons attitude and get quick corrections. On a forum it's written and read and then left to be taken in multiple ways. I am guilty of letting my emotions tell me things that aren't true and I often am aggravated at myself for reacting wrongly. I guess what I am saying is to be careful about making judgements simply from a forum post, ask questions and join in the discussion. I bet that many of us that have had disagreements and even been pissed at each other would actually get along just fine hunting together in the turkey woods. I can honestly say everyone I have ever met in person from a forum have been very nice people. So I think we're doing just fine and if anything we just need to step back our emotional responses a tad. Even when it's gotten heated I think it's still been respectful and I appreciate that....carry on

This is a hard core group, not beginners and intermediates for the most part. We would all get along just sharing a campfire given the opportunity, despite having some different opinions on methods and techniques along the way. Much better to admire and respect the common things we share and appreciate all the good things on the site.

That was disappointing as I'm sure many folks would've enjoyed engaging in that thread.Guess this forum is now an echo chambe, a place to discuss 4th of July meals, summer vacations, and comment on the 3 word story thread. If there's one thing i've learned over my past two decades of turkey hunting....DO NOT cast the slightest negative commentary towards the camo company. And god forbid you say anything negative about someone exploiting our public land resources! Especially if they have prior wildlife violations that almost resulted in Lacey Act felony charges!

Quote from: Old Gobbler on July 24, 2023, 12:58:07 PM#1 rule with and social site, club, organization is....people come and revisit because it's a enjoyable experience..Sit back and think about for a spell , ...unlike a great place that produces a product like food ...that keeps you coming back , Oldgobbler shares information, communication and a friendly atmosphere...when a person is identified to habitually spreading a bad experience...that's the same as having a place sell bad food that makes people sick....so the "health board" does a inspection..and cleans it up There is a reason the site has lasted so long , and that is because we have such great members, I could probably write a book on the subject Shannon
Quote from: joey46 on July 24, 2023, 10:26:53 AMI applaud the form administrator for allowing this thread, started 7/10, to continue reaching now close to 2800 views. I intended it to be a hoot. Certainly turned out that way. Will drop off now to let things calm down and shake out. If anyone was offended be assured that is was intentional. Hunt legally and leave others alone is a good motto to live by. Good luck to all.
