Had a good season.. as always I let more than a few get away unscathed and had one miss.. managed to kill one in MS on some public land, and tagged out in the state I now live in of VA, the second was my longest spurred bird yet at 1 7/16 inches, the last one on a hard hunted piece of public land .. watched a few others die as well.  I hate the wait till it begins again.. but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I love that first picture looking down the back of the turkey at a close up low angle.

I've never seen that before, and it's awesome!

Sounds like a good season. Time to start planning for next year. Z

Awesome bird, congratulations. Spent several hours mowing yesterday, trying to give poults a chance to survive in some open space without getting drowned by the wet grass. But now I am with you, waiting for the fall season to get here now. Sleeping in has come as a welcomed relief, lol. Thx for the good pics and congratulations.

It seems like it came and went so fast. I'm still sorting out my feelings about my public land hunting this spring. I love it. I love being in the woods. I love hearing turkeys. But it just wasn't the same this year. The birds were non responsive to calling, well they actually responded negatively, I got screwed over by people, I don't know. I'm not trying to be negative or complaining. I'm just being honest. It wasn't quiet as fun. I know I know it's public land. I hope something changes. I did have two spectacular hunts on private land where the turkeys gobbled and responded to my calls and acted like we love them to. I'm so grateful for those experiences this spring. Here comes the waiting.

It's time to walleye fish for 6 weeks then start getting ready for my favorite pasttime-bowhunting whitetails. It was a good season. There were a couple that got away that still bother me but that will keep the fire burning for next year. I will miss it for sure!

I'm with you. Even though I'm getting older, I'll take closed gates and big altitude changes any day compared to what I mostly hunted this season. It's the only way I can seem to get away from the idiots and slobs. I look forward to retirement and weekday hunting!

Good for you! I am glad you had positive experiences. I hunted a few eastern states and had good experiences as well.

Had seven days out of my hunting I didn't hear a turkey, 6 were on the same property. Very odd, but is what it is.

Get out and hunt.

Forgot to say...... I am glad it's over!

I have lost motivation. Have this week off with plans to go to NE but had to work Monday and Tuesday, figured I may as well save the Vaca days for something else.

Guess I am getting old. Sure do know one thing, I can't go for 90 days of turkey hunting. If you think can, think hard. It's a long haul.

Time flies.  The season always goes by too quickly.  Good luck in the future.
