I hunted my home state of Mississippi of course plus several midwestern states and a state out west for merriams. With all the talk of turkeys numbers being down which I agree we are in a decline. Each state I went to was LOADED with jakes. It was a great feeling to see this. With all the negative talks of population decreases it was a light of hope. I'm not saying things don't need a change to help the turkeys because I'm all behind it 100%. It was just a nice site to see

I think from what I've seen we're in a position to rebound or crash and burn.  Lots of Jake's, lower limits, and an awareness of doom.  We need to consider everything we can do to help from predator control, burning aka habitat, and one thing I've noticed in my travels is each local region has its own personal issues and those are things that you John Q Turkey Hunter can really work on at home.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Totally agree! Mississippi is doing some changes for next season. I hope other states make changes and we can hold on to what we have!!!!!

Hopefully everything will work out for everyone in the future of turkey hunting ...

Have seen a fair amount of Jake's as well!  Early in the season I saw birds still in winter flocks, saw around 25-30 male birds in a smallish area, 20 plus were jake's!

We have encountered alot of jakes as well. More than in recent years.  Hoping for good things...
