Is it just me, or do turkeys have selective paranoia. They live in the woods with countless other animals moving around like birds, squirrels, deer, chipmunks, etc and are totally fine. You twitch your nose or bend a finger and that same turkey flys off to the next county! Fascinating birds.

I once heard "a deer sees a camouflaged hunter and thinks he's a stump, a turkey sees a stump and thinks it's a camouflaged hunter". Seems about right sometimes!!

LOL.

To be honest, IMO, a turkey is very paranoid. He believes everything in the woods can kill him . Guess what, dang near everything in the woods can kill him. Maybe thats not being paranoid but being highly cautious.

I sware to this day. I busted a turkey at trigger pull by batting my eye! I have had some WTH moments for sure.

It's only paranoia if your wrong!!!

Paranoid is a strong word. I think turkeys are skittish ( Nervous, excitable and easily scared) about everything. They are almost always on high alert.

The newest THP podcast really digs deep into screwball turkeys and is worth a listen.

Last spring me and a buddy were up in the northeast. Those turkeys lived in yards and encountered humans regularly. You could literally walk up to them if you acted casual. You setup and try to call one up they acted just as wild and warry as any other eastern.

Isn't this the truth.

Just because one is paranoid doesn't mean that something isn't after him.
