For those complaining about nonrez/limits: here is how to get something done

Wildlife law can be passed one of two ways:

1.) State Agency/Commissions: Contact the ones in your state agency in control of setting wildlife regulations. In most states, a commission does this. Write letters to the commission. Get your buddies to write letters. Get signed up to SPEAK at a commission meeting. Be prepared to come with any data you have, your personal experiences (sob stories work well sometimes), how things have changed, etc. Social pressure can exceed the weight of actual wildlife science. Example, Tennessee's commission dropping the limit and pushing the season back against biologist's recommendations. Basically, if enough people whine, its sometimes successful getting a change even if the change isn't supported by science.

2.) State Government: Contact your state representatives. They can introduce bills to get changes in wildlife law. The state governments out west LOVE throwing new bills into the ring every year that could significantly affect western big game hunters. Hunting/conservation organizations constantly have to battle it. We get it too here in the east, but not quite on the same level.

The key is to get a bunch of people contacting one of the two above entities. If you can form an ORGANIZED group, that will help a lot. And keep pounding them with the pressure. Posting your thoughts and ideas on an internet forum will get you nowhere. But round your buddies up and get to work on the above. You'd be surprised how little work it takes to get wildlife law passed sometimes.

Be sure and mention that a doubling of the cost of a resident tag to make up for any lost OOS revenue would be more than acceptable.  Don't let $$ get in the way.

I own land in both georgia and south carolina.  I pay property taxes on them both, but live in another state and pay the requisite OOS license fees in both georgia and south carolina.  I also spend a lot of time and money in the off season managing habitat.  Do i get screwed by this too?

Along the same lines, i am heading to virginia this weekend to hunt with a friend on his 1000 acre farm that he owns.  Someone is going to tell him and me that i can't do that?

As I'm sure you've noticed many of these post are selfish and hypocritical.  Enjoy your Virginia hunt.

I could never campaign for loss of opportunity
Amen, for the most part.

Although an avid traveling turkey hunter myself, residents deserve priority and there are a few situations that are long due for an overhaul. (i.e. FL quota hunt draws).

Just seeing all the banter being posted lately, figured I'd let folks know what they can do that can actually get results. But as we both know most will just sit back and complain rather than take action.

Most guys I know including myself usually sleep in our trucks , eat sandwiches and hunt. Only real revenue they get from us is from license and fuel. Ton of Louisiana residents come over here to Mississippi and stay at their camps. They spend money but it's not as extravagant spending as you make out. If we did a survey just to get an idea , I bet lodging and food expenses are a lot less than what you may think. Now all that said , my opinion is we are all American citizens, make a nationwide hunting license that we can purchase and hunt or fish anywhere in this country on public land that we want to. Especially if you served in this country's military. I missed a lot of hunting while I was deployed twice and fighting in 2 conflicts for our rights. Just my 2 cents. Bottom line is money makes the world go round and that's the way it is. Over and out.

And watch decades of wildlife and fisheries management go down the crapper. No thanks.

Haha. Everybody can't have their cake and eat it to. Lots of complaining about OOS coming to hunt and residents wanting their birds to themselves. Topic is like beating a dead horse lol. It is what it is. PS the comment you highlighted from my post was sarcasm.
