Jack, you're making being a Dad too much fun.
We've been looking forward to this day since he killed his first giant gobbler last year at 7 years old.
Birds gobbled like mad on the limb. We had 3 big Toms come in from behind us and circle around at first light, but they never came closer than about 50 yards. I told Jack we just needed to be patient and let them go hang out with their girlfriends for a while.
Once the hens walked off they started gobbling again so Jack and I worked them with some soft calling right into our lap. Three big white headed strutters at 20 steps and I told Jack to cut one down.
I said, "Where are you aiming buddy?"
"Right on the caruncles", he tells me.
(Boy's been paying attention)
Jack's .410 barked and sent a swarm of tungsten shot down the barrel, flipping that big bird right over backwards.
21.4 lb
10" beard
1" spurs
And we got some fantastic before, during, and after video footage.
I don't even know what to say anymore buddy. You're a stud.
