I finally made myself take only a trumpet to the woods when calling for my buddy yesterday and the birds were eating it up. Called 3 longbeards in a few times in different set ups before my buddy could finally get a shot off and seal the deal. I've had a hard time making myself use my trumpets cause I'm so confident in my mouth calls but after yesterday I think it will be a little easier to convince myself. Now I just need to use it to call my own bird in. I have a couple different ones that I like but yesterday I took my Seth hamon Frogwood with the brass oval mouthpiece. He hasn't killed a bird in a couple years and after a couple misses last year it made it that much sweeter

Congrats to both of you. I did the same this year only taking a trumpet so that I finally could tell myself I did it only with the trumpet. In all actuality it's not that hard as I can see the difference in the birds reacting to the different sound from the trumpet but more rewarding in someway.

Meleagris gallopavo

Did the same Saturday.  He closed the distance pretty quickly.  Had one coming yesterday but hens intercepted him.

Congratulations. Love the sun through the tail feathers, hope to get a picture of one strutting like that this year.
