Vest with dedicated thermocell pockets

Do you run the thermocell in the pocket, or take out once you stop?

I have one in a water bottle holder on side of vest that I run in vest and another in the carry pouch attached via molle strap. Both seem to take longer to warm up when air way on back of thermocell is blocked.

Which got me to thinking about these carry pockets on vest. Do the thermocells perform in them?

there is a vest that has a dedicated pouch for one, I think its nomad but cant remember. My rng200 I put it in the pouch on the shoulder strap behind the mouth calls and let the top stick out. I put a zip tie on it so I cant lose it but still loose enough that I can change out the cartridge. My new vest I haven't found a good way yet, tried the box call pouch but it doesnt have a way to keep it in, its just elastic. Tried the thermacell brand holster with the clip also but I dont trust it very much, the clip is loose and it doesnt have much holding it together

I would rather hunt without my gun than without my thermacell down here, ive always wondered why there weren't more vests with dedicated holsters

I keep my Thermacell in the mesh water bottle pouch on the side of my backpack. When I activate it, I turn it sideways, so the front is facing the same way I am. This allows air to circulate through both sides and lets me leave it in the backpack where I don't have to think about it.

I've seen some purpose built holsters online, but they cost more than the thermacell unit.
I use a bungee loop and plastic clip to secure it, and I just clip it on my left side vest waist strap. I can take it off or leave it there. It's a vital piece of gear for sure. How'd survive w/o 'em? Some of these swamp bottoms I'll run 2, one on either side. I fire them up in the truck so they're warmed up before I get out and face the vampire hoard.
Seems like an opportunity to design something at a "why not" price point and sell a pile of em.

They're not meant to be ran in any other position than laying flat, horizontally.  That being said I like to turn it on for the walk in but even when standing and listening I hold it flat in my hand or stuck in between my vest, and as soon as I sit down it goes on the ground.  I live where there were Thermacells for a long time before people knew about them and I can tell you they last for years if you run them that way, and sometimes only months or weeks if ran any other way.

Do you remember the first ones that you had to light with a lighter and didn't have a cover over the butane cartridge? I still think those were the best ones

Yes I remember them before they finished the design on the grill cover too, looked like a hockey mask. They tested them in my part of Georgia and in Louisiana before making them widely available. Used to see a man at the boat ramps handing them out for free testing, they wanted to know if they worked on other species like horse flies and sand gnats. Before most had heard of them we had them for sell in gas stations. 2nd Gens were the absolute best, said they got too hot though

That must be the one im still using, plastic melted everywhere on it but its still going.

I also notice that the butane cartridges I refill get hotter than the store bought ones

Old Timer

old cabelas vest I tie it around shoulder strap and tuck in a pocket. When I set up I lay it on the ground. It gets hot. Will not go anywhere without it.

I run it clipped to the front of my vest while on the move. I set it down next to me when set up. if bugs really bad, I set it in my lap lol
