No different than this   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_tFBt6maOc   Everybody has an opinion.  And most of the time, we as hunters take the heat because a few Rotten Apples will Spoil the Whole Bushel!

Wow, the comments on that one are even worse than the video. The amount of people that comment about  #4 shot or 3 1/2" shell or a 10ga the result would have been better is wild.

Did anyone else see the story about the 41 yo lady that killed a ""young wolf" while out hunting and posted all kinds of pics on FB and other social media sites of it? She skinned it out and had it in the bed of her truck laid out like a bear skin rug in several photos posing with it and she's all smiles. The problem was it was a Siberian husky pup. A bad situation but she brought it all on herself. She's getting roasted for it and now that she's getting herrassed so bad by antis and questioned by the authorities she changed her story and said it was coming after her growling and showing it's teeth so she shot it in self defense. It's actually nauseating but I guess that's what we have these days. If I remember correctly it happened in montana. There are many many things that do not belong on social media!

The Mennonite and I talk about this all the time and they don't even have internet in most cases but he has been shown enough to know it is bad. I tend to have people jump down my throat for saying such things but still say them.

Y'all hear be talk about trapping or coyote hunting with the Mennonite all the time but I think in all the time I have been here I have shared one picture and it was just the end of season furs stacked up which I half wonder if I should have even shown those.

When I got my first turkey I was sure to use some paper towels to wipe the blood off before I took or had my friend take pictures of it or me with it.

Same goes with pictures with deer, clean up any blood, push the tongue back into the mouth, pull it to the other side, take picture of it from the side it can't be seen on or cut it off so that it can't be seen, your picture will look so much better. I have taken some pictures from some members here with their permission or from people on Facebook again with their permission and edited out all the blood or the tongue of the deer hanging out and all but one has told me it looked better that way and have thanked me. Sometimes that can be done and sometimes it can't, the best way is just don't do it at all. I wish I had thought of that when I got my first deer, I have pictures of it all opened up on the back of the truck, would have looked better in the field sealed up. We did not have social media back then to think of and i was not really a photographer back then so I did not take notice of things like that but I sure do now.

Oh and lose the stupid hero poses with one foot on the animal, or laying down next to it shooting down, it looks stupid and in my opinion is very disrespectful to the animal you have just taken and makes you look like an idiot. I am less than impressed.

When I post pics, and that is pretty rare, I post the pics as how they were taken, but I am not a member of Facebook or anything other than a few forums, all hunting related.

If anyone is offended by a picture with a dead animal or some blood on a hunting forum, then they do not need to be on a hunting forum or at least not have an opinion.

Hunting is a bloody sport when success is achieved.

I agree with some of what you posted about the hero shots. Head stomping or decapitation is not impressive to me, neither is straddling a deer. You can look back at any picture that I have ever posted on here or most any forum, and I will not be in the picture. The reason being is that the picture should be about the animal and not the hunter. In my mind, the hunter did nothing but pull the trigger or release the arrow, the animal is what is important, plus, I am more of a loner when it comes to hunting.

I enjoy seeing pictures of successful hunters, but I hate the posed up, long arming poses that do not show the true size. That happens more with deer than turkeys, it's kind of hard to make a turkey look bigger than it actually is.

Yes it can be a bloody sport but why glorify that part? Pull it away from where it bled out so there is not a pool of blood, clean it up a bit. It is not only better for all of us as far as they are not stealing our photos to use against us saying look how gory it is type of thing but as I said now that I have really gotten into photography I notice so much more and simply put it looks bad in a photo, if you are going to take the time to commemorate it then why do a bad job of it? Just does not make any sense in it. Kind of like building a bucket for a well and leaving a hole in the bottom of it.

I haven't always lived up to that idea of palatable presentation, but I agree with it wholeheartedly. We as hunters/people who live in rural surroundings are accustomed to death and the less than elegant things that happen to cause it, whether it be a turkey receiving a close-range shotgun round or a barn cat getting caught in a silo unloader belt. Life can be a nasty business and we often forget that those of us outside our circles aren't accustomed to that as an unfortunate reality of their day-to-day. I don't post online anymore except for pictures of fans, fur or spurs. There's no blood or faces in my pictures anymore, both because I have friends who aren't fans of seeing that right next to their buddy's baby shower update on instagram and because, as others have said, all it does is give the anti's ammo.

When I was a kid (maybe I still am compared to the rest of this forum, actually), my grandfather's neighbour gave me a toboggan-load of old gun and hunting magazines from the 60s. One of them - I think an old issue of American Rifleman, talked about this very subject. Non-hunting friends might be happy for your hobby, but seeing it will spoil their appetite and wonder why that much blood and a lolling tongue doesn't spoil yours, nevermind why something that grisly is would make for a good photo. Funny how we as a community haven't gotten any further along in that conversation in the last 60 years...

It's a wonder some of those posts even make it onto Facebook. Recently I tried to post something pretty close to this..the question was about squirrels eating pine and tasting like pine: "If you want to see something nasty, find a squirrel that has been feeding on cypress balls. They leave a gummy looking residue around the  mouth" I got a notification that my comment didn't meet their standards and they were going to restrict my account. Now what could have been improper about that? I didn't use any profanity (I have when I picked up one of those nasty looking devils and didn't post any nudity. My only guess is the word "balls" . Obviously, we have entered the Twilight Zone.
