Snake boots or gaiters

After wearing snake boots for years i am thinking of wearing more comfortable boots and gaiters. Have never used gaiters but did use snake chaps years ago . What is your choice and why ?

I have snake boots but I am starting to lean towards gaiters. With that said I am looking forward to reading other people's replys.

Look at Dan's Hunting Gear. Brown snake gaiters. I wear them over Salomon hiking boots. They're great.

Turtle skin gaiters. Can be worn under rubber boots or with my danner pronghorns.

I have always worn snake boots but leaning towards getting a pair of gaiters to wear with lighter weight rubber boots.  Curious what people think of the ones today.  Bought a pair for my daughter years ago but they seem cumbersome.

Gaiters over lacross rubber boots in low lands or if I know I'll be crossing a creek .Gaitors over hikers in hill country .   I've yet to find a snake boot that's water proof .

Turtle Skins and hiking boots for me. I tried every snake boot imaginable over about a 10 year span, always hot, always leaked. I switched to a good pair of all leather boots and snake skins about 15 years ago and haven't looked back. Yes they are warm also but not like snake boots to me. Also when I'm out of the woods I simply zip of my gaiters and have on a pair of hiking boots to get on the tractor or run through town or whatever I get into. I'm sure there are other good ones but I like the turtle skins.

Lacrosse Alpha Agility rubber boots with turtle skin gaiters. Boots are lightweight with good soles...turtle skin gaiters are expensive, but the real deal and they last...mine are 15 years old.

Turtle skin gaitors with Irish Setter pinnacle boots. I've had leather, gore-tex, & rubber snake boots but the gaitors & Irish setters are ten times more
comfortable. I haven't worn my snake boots in 3 or 4yrs & honestly haven't missed them. They are better for walking in tall, wet grass too! No where near
as wet as wearing leather snake boots. I don't know why but they are drier. I've been hit by a copperhead in my rubber snake boots & I know they work thank goodness. I'm pretty sure I'd feel it more in the turtle skins but they protect the same.

I tried a pair of snake boots last year. Irish setter vapor trek with the boa lacking system. Really like them. Light weight and I was surprised how comfortable they were. Its almost like wearing a pair of sneakers. If they got hot I'd just loosen the boa system and let the warm air out.  I'd leave the necks open and walk flat ground. It was no problem without having laces dangling to step on or get tangled in the brush. If I got to uneven terrain is was a matter of a couple quick turns of a knob and the boots were snug again. I really love thier practicality, problem is the waterproofing only lasted for about 3 weekend trips.  This year I'll be doing the irish setters again with a pair of knee high waterproof socks. We'll see how it goes.

Most Snake boots are very uncomfortable. Stiff and uncomfortable.
I got some Russell's that are easy on the feet but they are $$. Hopefully they will last a long time. they are great boots but I have had 3 pairs made from Russell and 2 fit but the third I sent back 4/5 times and they are still a little big. These were not lace up hunting boots though
If I had to do it again I'd probably do hiking boots and leg gaiters. Maybe crispi boots and turtleskin gaiters

Lowa leather hiking boots with Turtle Skins. Good leather
hiking boots are way better than any snake boot for durability,
support, and being waterproof.
