Montana decoy?

I have the Jake and hen. They are very light and packable but not realistic looking at all
Had a bird get too close to the hen and I think it spooked him

If there's lot more options out there what's the other 3D options out there that pack flat and will fit in a pocket?

No one said there's exact options like you're looking for. There are just better, more realistic decoys. As wchadw said and I've had the exact experience it spooked em. I had 2 dif longbeards on same day come across a ridge slowly strutting in only to see the Montana deke and go from calmly strutting in to instantly blowing away after seeing the deke. The only dekes I've ever had this negative experience with was Montana.
I use real decoys and I'll carry them pretty far. I don't see an issue with reg decoys myself. They're in a bag over your shoulder or throw one in your game bag in vest til you get there. Deer hunts we carry lots more. I understand what you're trying to do but I'd take none and had for years until I became vision, hearing limited, before I carried any Montana decoy.

If you're looking for light weight and somewhat realistic. I carry a foam decoy with a skin I made of real feathers that fits over it. I think you can buy skins somewhere that look ok. I still carry a couple DSD with me also. Good luck

Its harder toting dave decoys in a boat and climbing steep banks with them running and gunning!!

Seems like it's hard to get both light wgt and realistic. That's why I gave you a better light wgt. option that I use. Mainly use my heavier decoys for blind use, but will sometimes take one running and gunning. I don't mind working for my bird, and if that means I feel it's better to pack the bigger ones along, I will sure do it. I haven't found any light wgt decoys that I would be happy sticking in the ground and say, "that will work". So like I said, I just made my own.

It's rare that I deploy decoys & rare to never that I hunt in blinds. For run & gun they have worked well for me for 3 years now. I'm not lugging around a big decoy & the packability can't be beat. I found I get better responses when I don't pull the chest bungy down to lock them in place. The wind helps.  I also make it a point to push leaves up around the stake.

Only negative response I have ever had was from a jake that hung up at 40 yards because he was looking for the slightest movement. Regardless he hung out for 30 minutes trying to invoke a movement. He eventually came in & gave her a few good pecks.

Had several gobblers try & whip the little jake without hesitation.

The two together have a lot of versatility. The material in the neck allows for any posture that stays where you want it. The jake isn't aggressive or intimidating. I typically put the fan slightly pointed down. It also hold where ever you want it.

I can't tell but it sounds like some people have some beef with montana for some reason. I guess I missed something.

Those two decoys are the only thing I'd lug around.
