Spitten and drummen

Armadillos are a drop in the bucket as far as nest predators. They are annoying but are more far more beneficial to turkeys than you think. They destroy fire ant beds eating the ants and eggs and fire ants will absolutely eat up turkey eggs. Armadillos cannot see well  and will have to step in a nest to find it.

Interesting bit of information on the Fire Ants.

On a side note . In Boy Scouts we went on a survival camp out . We were a small troop . Scout master divided us into pairs , could only take what fit in your pockets and two matches per scout . Jut as we were going our separate ways , an armadillo ran by , we grabbed whatever we could find to hit with and ran it down . We divided the meat , me and my partner pulled up some cattail roots out of the pond , built a fire , put it all on a stick and had dinner . If that wasn't enough , it rained that night , fire drowned out . We survived , I still remember how my Grandpa laughed at my story . I think next time I will try a different recipe .
