After an illness where the vet said there was no chance of recovery I reluctantly had my 13 year old Drathaar, Greta, put down. She was losing weight and wouldn't eat and had trouble keeping water down so I felt I did the right thing. She was a great pheasant dog but more importantly a great companion. I will miss her dearly.

Sorry to hear that. It's definitely not an easy decision, but I think you did the right thing.

My heart goes out to you, Wyo.. I know how hard that is to do. It will hurt for a long time, but it was the right thing to do for her. She's chasing pheasants with my Springer, Hershey, as we speak. The memories will last forever..Mike

Man, I know what you are feeling. My Shorthair is an unreal 15 1/2 and she keeps hangen on. I dread the idea of having to make your decision. You wish that they would die in their sleep vs taking them to the Vet. I will not handle that well when the time comes.
