Drywall Screen 100, 180 or both?

I have some drywall screen in 100 and 180 which should I use for glass and which for crystal? I recently got a call that is bronzed glass, should I use it on that and if so which? Thanks.

I don't know if that's going to "cut it". Not going to hurt to try, I have always used a Primos "Slick Stick". It has a stone side and a diamond cutting surface. Very easy to use. I have use 80-100 grit course sandpaper.

Thanks for the reply Bo, I know that many people use drywall screen to condition calls, I know some makers that say to use nothing but. I know they tell you to only go in one direction and not back and fourth though. I am not sure if I can use it on the bronzed glass or not though. I am pretty sure for crystal, but again I am not sure what grit or grain I should use.

Depends on the sound you want. Both are fine. Finer grit gives a slightly clearer sound wher coarser makes it raspier.

I never tried drywall screen so I can't give you a response on that.
I use a Scotchgard green pads called Scotchbrite pads for my calls.
Just some food for thought.

Thanks, honestly not sure Scotchguard would do any good on glass. (I think you mean Scotch Bright but I could be wrong)

Stone for the initial rough up, 220 drywall screen for maintenance on glass & crystal.

Same as above post - stone for initial cut in or rough up then hit as needed or touch up with drywall screen until deep cut work is needed again ( shouldn't have to do this deep cut much) once or twice a season especially if you keep calls in some kind of protective case and also don't get finger oils - grease on them

Not sure Steve but All Hobert (enticed turkey calls) could help you, he sells a kit with sandpaper, a stone, drywall screen, scotch brite in a nifty box. I would guess if you asked him he'd tell you what he uses and sells but if you can get his conditioning kit it is highly recommended.

Thank you very much for the suggestion, sounds like a neat kit. To be honest though I have all that stuff already and just keep it in a small kit I carry the calls it now, I just don't have the extra money this season to spend and want to stick with what I already have. I did get with the guy I got the call from and he said he was using 320 grit sandpaper so I am going to give that a go for now I guess. I almost don't want to take out any of my purchased calls, just the ones I made but I decided to try to throw them a new sound so I am going to bring some that I made and some that I bought.
