Virginia bird down

Well guys.....8 days into the season I finally connected today. I've hunted every day walking 4-6 miles a day. Only 1 day really had good hard gobbling which was Monday. Aside from that it was very minimal. I only really worked one bird this week which I bumped into running and gunning on Wednesday at 11am.

Fast forward to today. Very quiet roost. I heard one bird gobble at 620 and that was it. While on the move at 8am I heard a bird gobble on his own out in front of me the direction I was going. I made two moves on him and managed to pull him and another longbeard from a flock of birds with some really vocal hens. I started getting aggressive and they starting hammering. Brought them into 30 yards in full strut and that was all she wrote.

Some of you may not know but Billy from our team (bclarke) has a turkey call company called Oakland Game calls. They're fantastic calls and I used one of his mouth calls to kill the bird today.

And congrats to Billy on his bird as well.
