Have had as many as 18 jakes ruin hunts for 5 days running gobblers off. But today around 9:20 I heard this guy gobble. Got close as I felt comfortable and yelped with an aluminum pot call and then soft yelped on my wingbone. 11 am I finally was able to shoot a good bird

Congrats! With all those jakes around it sounds like the future is good in your area.

You know what they say, if the beard's longer than the yelper, shoot!

Well Done

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons. However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Congrats on the fine gobbler. I called in a group of 5 Jakes on 3 different occasions last weekend during the kids youth hunt. That first time they worked passed us and whipped the you know what out of a longbeard we had coming in from behind us. Really worked him over.

That is a very good bird. Nice work with the wing bone finishing him.
