Dave Smith Decoy questions???

How much do they weigh? How well do they fold up for carrying? Can anyone post pics of DSD's folded up or rolled or however you would minimize for carry?

I carry my bow,blind,chair,tri-pod,food&drink on my back in my ground blind back pack that I make and a jake and hen decoy and video camera over each shoulder.The decoys are eather DSD or my stuffers.I carried this over a mile one way in a WIHA in KS. this spring and had to carry it all out along with a bow killed longbeard that will be on my new dvd.So yes it's worth it!

The new material they are using is a lot quieter than the old harder stuff.

I watched a friend carry pretty boy and pretty girl in the woods a couple of years ago and he clanked and caught on everthing. They are no even close to the bulky and noise of those.

I just toss the strap over my shoulder and go. I think they are easier to use than the ones that fold up or blow up.

Congrats! I carry much the same gear in a Blind Hog pack with full strut Ol' Tom decoy plus a jake and hen and home camera. I hope to upgrade the camera soon.

I went with the Zink LCD hen after looking at them and DSD at the sportsman show

NO REGRETS at all, had great success with them and a lot of birds got shot over them this spring

weight is not an issue
they are bulky. thats the issue.
if you go with the real wings and fan they also take time to setup
but they do work great

I am not a person who solely relies on a decoy with every setup so I dont carry my DSD everywhere. But when I was using it this year I found it's size, weigh, and "bulk" not an issue (I'm speaking of only the upright hen). When put in the shoulder bag and thrown across my back, as long as I had it arranged so it wouldn't slide under my arm, I would often forget I had it at all. Bulk? when compared to a fold up or inflatable decoy, perhaps it can be considered bulky but it's not like carrying a elephant through the woods and the added realism is definitely worth the little bit of extra effort when compared to the fold ups. I killed several birds this year over the decoy and a couple with it still in the bag tossed on the ground next to me. In my opinion, it was money well spent. Everyone I hunted with this year had one on order by the time I left, they're killers.

The DSD hen ones weigh about as much as a few shotgun shells - If you get one write your name on it and don't leave it laying around , it has a tendency to get "borrowed" in any camp situation -  

DSD's are made out of a undisclosed proprietary material that is flexible and has unbelievable paint adhesion properties  -  best paint job in the industry - seeing is believing - Even with high resolution computer monitors you will not be able to see how much higher quality the product is compared to pictures , until it is in your hands  - If there is a friend or dealer nearby try and go take a look at it

They all come with a bag ,and a stake ,  The hen ones will fit in any turkey vest that will hold a dead gobbler - I hardly notice it while walking in the woods  

It deploys in about as how long it takes you to push a stake in the ground -

DSD's are rugged ,and require no inflation -They have been tested with direct blasts from magnum shotguns at close range - they will not leak... collapse.... warp .....or deflate..... like other types

The Gobbler DSD is more substantial in all areas, and  is built to last -

One more thing I want touch upon , they are also in high demand , due to the seasonal demand of the product , come spring time they get slammed with orders - get your order in early and they will process your decoy order in the respective order it was placed- Shannon

Love my DSD's!

The new soft ACE version is even better than the original hardbody version.

I consider them a 'must' for archery, and a strong 'need' for gun hunting!

Mine was here two weeks after Dave left. Carried it on every hunt the rest of the season, even if it didnt get deployed. i covered a lot of ground and barely noticed I was carrying her.

Well, I was going to type my own reply, but it would have been so close to Covehnter I decided to just quote him.  The DSD is the best looking decoy on the market in my opinion and well worth the purchase.  We all spend big $$ on guns, ammo, chokes, calls, camo, etc., so why not a great quality decoy that looks like the real thing.
