Nicely done, Joe.  Are you sure that is a hen mallard?  Interesting coloration if it is.

I too was wondering about the coloring on her wing bars.  All of the one's that I have killed had blue wing bars.

Its almost like a smoke phase in turkeys. The genetic wierdness made the colors different. The bars on the wings are a light copper or brownish where they should be a blueish purple. I wish I had a normal looking hen mallard to show the difference.
