A gobbler wingbone cut to about 8 1/2" is really hard to beat for gobbler yelps and clucks and a Roger Parks Gobbler pot.

I am a bit surprised no one has mentioned the tube call here (if your question is about asking how to reproduce the gobble).  The cheap and readily available tube call (not the shaker type) will produce a pretty realistic gobble with the proper latex and stretch on it.  Easy to learn to use and the volume can be controlled from very loud to reach out to a far-away gobbler to something softer when needed.   :icon_thumright:

I'm with you on this! Gobbling on a tube has accounted for quite a few birds for me. It's small. On a lanyard. Easy to use. If a tom is hung up a gobble will a lot of times change his mind. Just make sure you use if carefully as it will attract more than birds.

I was really asking about a mouth call. I started looking for Haint calls and saw that they're selling for the price of a nice trumpet.
I am practicing religiously on my trumpets, but don't know how to gobble on one yet. I purchased nice ones from Lee Chatham at Misfire and Ralph Permar.
I don't believe our Utah Merriams hear too many trumpets.

For me personally, strut, gobbling on a mouth call is the most difficult sound to master.  I have heard very few people make a realistic gobble on a mouth call.  In addition, most who can gobble on a mouth call make an "Eastern-gobbler" gobble rather than the slightly off-beat and "slower-note" sound of our Merriam's birds.  I have been trying for years to reproduce the Merriam's gobble on a mouth call and I just can't get that off-beat cadence down.  It always sounds more like that "rattle" of an Eastern bird.

Again, it is much easier to master the gobble...and get closer to the Merriam's sound...on a tube call than by trying to duplicate it on a mouth call.  Having made that statement, a mouth call can actually be turned vertically between your lips and teeth and you can use it similarly to the tube call to reproduce a "serviceable" gobbler when needed.

Bottom line, if you are determined to learn to gobble "on demand" with a mouth call, all I can say is "good luck".  In my opinion, it is one of the most difficult calls to master...at least it has been for me.  In addition, if you master the Merriam's gobble on a mouth call, I want to hear it!  It will be the first time I have ever heard someone make a realistic Merriam's gobble on one!   :icon_thumright: ;D

I'll keep trying, I can do reasonably ok on a tube.
Always looking for another hook....
Thanks for all the replies.

Not to hi-jack the thread, but I've been searching for info about purchasing a Rohm Brother's or Roger Park's call and can not find anything. If someone has one they are interested in sell or has info where I can purchase one please pm me. Also I don't have Facebook.
Thanks in advance.
