Rem 1100 question

I am wanting to take a bird with my grandfather's old 1100.  He has a 30" full choke barrel and a 26" improved cylinder barrel.  Obviously, I would use the 30" barrel with the fixed full choke.  Is it safe to shoot the Apex or FoxTrot TSS loads through these older barrels?  I believe the gun is a late 60s or early 70s model gun.  The Apex round is a 2 oz. round and FoxTrot offers a 1 5/8 oz load with their mini twister round.  Thoughts?

Beautiful gun there. Hopefully Mr. Sumtoy will see this, if not send him a PM. He is a custom gunsmith and is on our forum under Sumtoy. He will have the right answer. My father-in-law left me a Remington Sportsman 58 12 gauge with a 30 inch barrel, fixed choke. I cleaned it up the other day, I plan on taking out this spring. I will pattern it with 3 inch Winchester Longbeard 6's. This model is the model that the 1100 replaced. I am interested in seeing what Sumtoy says about the TSS. Good luck, you can always use conventional loads and I am sure that 1100 will knock em down.....

I dont think you will see a problem in that set up.   Now you can thread the 26 inch barrel for chokes.    We see a lot of folks threading them and turkey hunting also shooting buckshot out them.    Now they did make a steel shot barrel for a few years you may find.   Now the Sportsman 58 getting older and we seeing folks come in with some swelled barrels.   Now you know how that goes.  Dont know who, what or when just not something they did.  lol Also the 58 little harder to find parts for so keep that in mind.
Tell us just how dead do you want them to be and we will see if we can get that for you.

Thank you. Is THE sportsman 58 ok with Longbeards?  Or should I stick with lead DOUBLE XX

No way to know.    Now I can say in the past we seen more trouble out the long beard then some others.     That said it was a few years back and I remember reading something about the stuff they had in the shell.

Update:
Got a box of Apex TSS 2.75", 2 oz., #9s.  Opening day laid out a gobbler at 30 yards.  First bird I have shot that did not flinch after the shot.  Patterned the gun/barrel/load before taking it and I was very impressed with the pattern out of a full choke barrel.  While it was very nice to get a bird with my granddad's 1100, it won't take the place of my VersaMax in the usual rotation.  Thank you all for your advice.
