I am particular about my strikers...I like them with a certain look and feel.  When you find one that you like, you can really get attached to it...or to them.  I see some with a roll of strikers they carry, but I try to limit myself on the stuff I carry in the woods. This one always goes....

A custom turned one piece striker takes more work...most are plain jane. Plain jane works...the proof is dead gobblers. But it would be nice to see some of the custom favorites....

Who made that striker?  It looks like African Blackwood with a little sapwood on the top.

I know I've got at least thirty strikers from Jeff Harrison and probably seventy five or a hundred total, mainly from buying too many pots through the years. Someone posted on here a long time ago about getting a marker/pen holder to hold all your strikers and keep them organized and man that's been a blessing. You can find them on Amazon if you search pencil and paint brush holder. But here's a couple favorites.

On the bottom is the only commercial striker I carry and it will never ever leave my vest. I've walked miles back multiple times to find it when I've left it under a tree (reminder I need to put a piece of bright tape on it this year so I don't keep losing it). It's just a dymondwood from Tom Teasers but it will flat eat any pot or surface you put it on. I've bought duplicates but none of the others sound the way this one does. Here's hoping I never lose it.

The next is a snakewood two piece from Jeff Harrison. I think it's probably the prettiest striker I own. I think he's flat mastered the striker. This one loves harder surfaces. Really made a Travis Wyatt ceramic sound phenomenal.

Next is a black laminate carbon tip from Bill Lyman. Best all weather striker I've ever played and I've played a lot of them. Never could find one I absolutely loved till this one. It never leaves the vest.

Last, up on top, is one you just don't see often which is a persimmon from Jack Mincey. Never hear that name much but the folks who use it know damn well he makes some of the best crow calls ever made, makes a killer slate too. I like the lines of his strikers. Reminds me of the Fowlers. Jack lives just down the road from me, but I like his work a lot.

I turned the pictured ABW striker about 20 years ago....

I don't make pot callers. I have made a few strikers. I've probably made another 15-20 strikers like the one pictured over the years from various woods, and every time I make one someone comes along that has to have it.  Hopefully, if I can get over my present vertigo issues, I'm going to try to make a few more.  I have some snakewood drying now I want to try....

I'm a striker collector and have well over 100 custom strikers.  Actually I'm a little embarrassed about my collection because I have so many.  My obsession is mainly one-piece strikers made of striking examples of domestic and exotic woods.  I have a few really nice laminated wood strikers.  I plan on sharing pics of some of them at some point.
