TFT
« on: July 09, 2021, 07:44:09 PM »
TFT is a new organization, at least for me. What I have read however makes me give a lot of thought to the current turkey health in our country. I thought you might find it interesting.
Thanks,
Clark

I know several people online that have joined, several from this forum and others from Facebook. I intend to join myself once I know what is going on with this possible move. Seems like a decent organization.

Jim Spencer, noted author and biologist is one of the founders.  His love of all things turkey will be an asset to the group.

I joined. If I remember correctly it seems like most efforts seem to be focused around the South East. But as someone who’s a Turkey conservationist, I don’t mind making a donation so we can have Turkeys for tomorrow.

I joined after reviewing the material on their website and the linked articles.  The message they present and the concerns they have for the populations and the future of turkey hunting seem to align with my personal views as well.  From what I’ve read they bypass a lot of the fluff and want to address some issues head on and that’s what we need at this point.  I’m not sure of the overall perspective outside the south east region of the country, but the decline here is real and it’s troubling.  With many organizers of the TFT being from this region, and even my state, I feel like they truly have an understanding of the situation at hand and a vested interest in the cause.

For sure turkeys (and therefore turkey hunters) need all the help they can get to ensure a bright tomorrow.  A research based organization that is not a membership based model should help funnel some additional great funds towards field work and study that is 100% turkey

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

I went on the TFT website last night and read everything that was on
there. One thing that stood out was if you click on news on the top bar,
they have 5 articles on there from Dec. 29, 2020 to Mar. 10, 2021.
No articles have been added since Mar. 10th. One of the articles was
called "Quarterly Newsletter" written by Jim Spencer on Jan. 31, 2021.
It's been over 5 months since then.

I also clicked on events on the top bar. On that page they have
Wild Turkey News, which shows dates of radio shows, podcasts, and
regulations changes. All 4 things they have listed are from
2-20-21 to 2-28-21.

So we have no articles written since Mar. 10, 2021 and no information
put into Wild Turkey News since 2-28-21. It's like nothing has been
added to that website since Mar. 10, 2021. It did look like they had a
turkey survey on there that ended on July 1, 2021.

Are they not using their website anymore and just using Facebook
to put information and news on.
I ask this because I don't do Facebook.
