Archibald Rutledge roasted turkey
« on: April 13, 2021, 08:18:04 AM »
Hello, I read in one of Archibald Rutledge’s books a story about him trying to kill a old gobbler that was hanging around his rice fields. There was another guy sneaking around trying to kill the same gobbler. In the story he mentions roasted wild turkey stuffed with peanuts and lined with sweet potatoes. Anybody know anything about a recipe like this?? I would like to try it as sort of a tribute to the old days. I’ve looked everywhere I know to look and don’t see anything like this. Thanks for the help!

Is it possible it was pecans and not peanuts? If so I found a recipe.

Thanks. I believe the story said peanuts but I’ll give this one a whirl. Thank you
