TC 20 Gauge Scope Base
« on: March 31, 2021, 10:16:49 AM »
I've read a few posts about 20 gauge barrels for the TC.  Some mention Part#9949.  Some mention ruining the barrel by mounting the wrong base.  Is there some insight anyone can offer about mounting a scope onto a 20 gauge turkey barrel?  I may be worrying about nothing, but thought I'd check here for experience.

The 9949 is for the 12ga.  Part# 9899 will fit the 20ga.  I have seen some comments on a TC FB group about screws bottoming out.  I have the 9899 and checked it on my 20ga and that didn't happen to me.  EABCO makes and sells a base specifically for the 20ga.

Warne also makes a very sturdy base for the Encore.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind te most.

I've narrowed it down to those 2.  The 9899 is $13 and the EABCO is $30+ship.  Ordered the cheap one from amazon to inspect.  I'll send it back if necessary.  Any tips before mounting it?  All the screw issues I've read has me a little gun shy about the whole thing now.

Here is the one I used....base and rings all built in same piece. It has been rock solid! Camo too if that's your thing. DD :OGturkeyhead:

Do you recall what height you ordered to keep scope cleared from the hammer (with room to pull back)?

I believe it was a medium? I don’t recall but it think that selection in camo was limited. I did add a hammer spur that sticks out on the right hand side as the hammer was pretty tight to the scope to get my fat thumb in there easily. The spur works awesome. Or on the Prohunter you can swivel the hammer left or right as well.....loosen with Allen wrench and retighten.  DD
