Remington 11-48 .410 won't shoot Federal TSS

Hoping maybe someone on here can help. I have a Remington 11-48 .410, 3" and shorter shells, fixed full choke. I've fired 2 1/2" shells through it no problem. I haven't tried any standard lead 3" shells because I can't find any right now. When I tried shooting the 3" Federal TSS, I'd pull the trigger and hear the firing pin click but it doesn't seem to touch the primer. The TSS shells fit in the chamber and to my eye seat just like the 2 1/2" shells, so I don't think it's a length issue. I talked to a gunsmith and he said "Did you pull the bolt out and clean it?" I said no, and went home and did that. Still won't shoot the TSS but still shoots the standard loads... So I called Federal, and talked to a guy who was really helpful, but couldn't really tell me why it won't shoot them, but he did say that in the development stages they weren't necessarily thinking about the Remington 11-48 SOOOO anyone on here have any thoughts on why it won't shoot em? Also anyone else hunting with a .410 11-48 and shooting TSS through it?

Is the firing pin striking the primer, or just not even touching it?  If its light striking you could go with a new firing pin/hammer spring or have the firing pin rebates a couple thousandths and see if that helps.  If it isnt even touching, check your bolt face and extractor for burrs or gunk to see if theres something keeping the shell base forward...

The firing pin is not striking the 3" Federal TSS, but is on the 2 1/2" shells I have. I'll check the bolt face and extractor tomorrow, thanks.

I have an 11-48 .410, and have fired both apex and federal 3" tss shells through it with no issues, as well as 2.5" game loads. Mine is a fixed improved cylinder choke, but will kill easily to 30 yards with the tss.

Good to know. I'd like to get this figured out... seeing as mine has the fixed full choke, I'm really interested to to see what it could do with tss.

just a guess. maybe the 3 inch are a little long for your chamber??? Bump it into battery and see if it fires

The shotgun has a 3" chamber. The guy that I talked to from Federal said that the Federal tss shells are slightly longer than regular 3" shells, and that could be the problem. But they are seating well in the chamber. It seems the rim is a little wider than other shells I'm firing...

That was going to be my last thing to check but I forgot to add it to my post.  If your extractor allows the base to move it could be setting the primer far enough away from the firing pin when you close the bolt to keep it from striking.
